The Liberty Road VFC is located in the northwestern corridor of Baltimore County, Maryland at 10010 Liberty Road, Randallstown, approximately 6 miles from I-695.
The Company was founded in 1947 by members of our local community. Over the past sixty plus years the area has evolved from rural to suburban density. The community now contains numerous apartments and extended care facilities, mercantile structures, municipal and state service and park facilities, schools, in addition to various large and small rock quarries and a major reservoir that services Baltimore City.
1947: July 16th, 13 men met at the Harrisonville Garage to discuss the formation of a volunteer fire company for the Harrisonville-Randallstown are of Baltimore county
1947: August 18th, the first regular meeting was held with membership totaling 50
1948: April, Randallstown Bank loaned the company $3,500 for the purchase a 1942 Ford Pumper and a 1940 Buick ambulance for $4,000 from Arbutus Volunteers
1948: October, cinderblock building was completed at a cost of $2,400 and equipment was put in service
1952: First new addition to the building was completed which included 2 engine bays, a hall and a kitchen
1957: New International 750 GRM Pumper with a 600 gallon booster tank replace the original Pumper
1960: New addition to the firehouse was dedicated and 1960 Intgernational Travel All ambulance purchased
1963: New International 1,500 gallon Tank Truck with a 750 GPM front mounted pump purchased, 1963 Cadillac
1969: Station 18 went into service
1972: Tropical storm Agnes hit Baltimore and memebers of LRVFC help with recovery
1972: Larry G Roos and John A Kreft received Dr Howard M Bubert Award from the Maryland State Ambulance and Rescue Association for their heroic efforts in saving an elderly women
1977: Teletype equipment was installed for quicker communication with dispatch
1981: Louis I Kessler recieved the Silver Star medal for heroic efforts in trying to save a drowning victim
1982: New Seagrave 1,000 GPM Pumper was purchased ($118,000) and put in service
1990: New Horton Box ambulance was purchsed and put into service
1991: Second addition to the station was completed, including new engine bays and bunk houses
1992: The 1982 Seagrave was refurbished and the new 1992 Seagrave was purchased
1996: Fire destroyed upstairs hall
2011: We currently have 2 Fire Engines, 1 Advance Life Support Ambulance, 1 Special Services unit, 1 Brush truck, and 1 Utility truck. We currently still operate out of portions of the origninal 1947 building.
